We fished the “Reelin’ for Research”
tournament today. The seas were a little
sloppy and four in our charter party got
pretty sick. We were only able to fish
for three hours before they had enough
and ended the day with three nice gaffer
mahi and two wahoo. The gaffer mahi
fishing has been world class this week
along with several blue marlin being
caught so give us a call and get in on
the action. |

We headed out to the Gulf Stream today with
Matt, his father-in-law, and his friend. The
seas were flat calm today and the fishing was
ok. We ended the day with six “gaffer” mahi, the
largest was around 25 pounds. We also had a
sailfish come into to the spread but did not get
it hooked and a yellowfin tuna that pulled the
hook 25 yards from the boat after a great fight
… but that’s just fishing. We still have a few
days open in April and May so please give us a
call to book your trip. The mahi action will be
getting thick any day now. |

Today
we had Brad Roberts and crew onboard for an offshore
Gulf Stream trip. It was a slow bite in the morning but
things picked up about lunch time. We caught a wahoo,
blackfin tuna, amberjack, and a mahi in just over an
hour and then a huge rain squall moved in with a water
spout and lots of lightning. The crew decided they were
ready to call it a day due to the weather so we headed
in early. We still have a few weekends open in April so
give us a call and book your trip today. Also the Big
Rock Blue Marlin Tournament is fast approaching in June
and we are still open if you are ready to fish one of
the best tournaments on the east coast!!! |

We had Terry Wood and his wife Tina out
today for some bluefin tuna and bottom
fishing. The bluefin tuna did not want
to play but the bottom fish sure did.
They caught a ton of ring tails, black
sea bass, gag grouper, and a shark that
were all released to fight another day.
The bluefin tuna bite seems to be
getting a little better and hopefully
the cold front this week will really
bring them in heavy. |

It's been awhile since we have posted a report
because we have been waiting for the bluefin
tuna to show up. Last week they finally decided
to show and the Gulfstream landed the first we
are aware of for this season (92 inches and 337
lbs.). There have been quite a few other bluefin
hooked and lost over the last week when the
weather would permit boats to get out and fish.
We are fishing this Friday and Saturday and
hopefully I will have a good report for you the
fist of next week. Also, we have already started
booking days for 2012 so look at your calendars
and give us a call to save your date today!!! |

We had a grandfather and his grandson on
board for a 1/2 day bluefish trip. The
fishing was off the charts with 50
bluefish in the box in less than 4 1/2
hours of fishing. Don't forget that the
wahoo and blackfin tuna fishing will be
awesome from now until late March and
the giant bluefin tuna should arrive any
week now so give us a call and book your
fishing trip of a lifetime today!! |

We fished the 1st Annual Brown Bag Wahoo
Tournament today and although we did not
win we still had a really great good day
of fishing. We ended the day with a
couple of wahoo, three blackfin tuna,
and a sailfish. Morehead City fishing
remains very good for wahoo and blackfin
tuna and will continue through the
winter. So why not give us a call and
book an awesome trip today. |

We had two couples onboard today for a
trip to the Gulf Stream. The water was a
dirty blue/green because of all the wind
we have been having but we still managed
a good catch. Sandy caught her first
sailfish ever and we caught a big king
mackeral, blackfin tuna, wahoo, and mahi.
Fall fishing is here and in full swing,

Envy Custom Rods) and Richard in search
of wahoo and blackfin tuna. We had an awesome
day with four nice wahoo, one blackfin tuna, one
false albacore, and we also jumped off a
sailfish. It was a great day on the water with a
great crew.
The wahoo fishing in Morehead City is World
Class right now and this will likely continue

Saturday lines in at 8:00am and we start getting
bites in the first 15 minutes. We catch several
small mahi and get a few more wahoo misses. Lost
a nice wahoo after about a 5 minute fight he
decides to bite through the 80# mono leader 25
ft from the boat. Only boated a small mahi and a
skipjack tuna on Saturday. We will be back at it
later this week and there will be wire leaders
in the spread for a little pay back to the
Morehead City wahoo. |

We started Friday with lines in at 9:00am. At
9:35am the bridge pole does a little
dance at the tip and Rick drops it back.
No love on the first try so he drops it
back a second time and the AE 50# class
rod comes tight. Three minutes later we
get the release on our first sailfish.
We put the spread back out and a little
while later the bridge pole is just
screaming and then it quits. Reel it in
and the hook is gone. The leader looks
like it was cut with a scalpel from ole’
mister wahoo. We have several more wahoo
bites that get cut off or don't stay
tight and missed another sail.

We had a group of guys from MN and WI charter the boat today
for a Gulf Stream trip. Tried some new water a
little farther north and a little deeper on a
nice temp break looking for yellowfin tuna. It
started off as a slow day with only 1 out of 2
yellowfin in the box. Out of nowhere a 400# plus
blue marlin comes pilling in on the left short
rigger and inhales the bait. She turns and then
comes tight screaming line off the reel and
decides to do a u-turn heading straight back at
the boat dancing on top of the water. She gets
just enough slack in the line to throw the hook
and swims back off into the deep. Next we
stopped at a wreck on the way back in and let
the guys get exhausted with about a dozen
amberjacks. Spring fishing is here and will only
get better in the coming weeks. The mahi and
tuna are starting to get thick so give us a call
and get in on the action!!! |

Pretty enough ride out in the AM. Went to the
southern again looking for the hoos and
YFT's. Knew the NE was going to pick up late
in the day so we couldn't spend as much time
down there as I would have liked. Water was
70.5-72.5 deg. Fishing was slow, picked up a
nice king on the bridge pole early. A couple
hrs later had a AJ hit the planer. Trolled
down to the 340 line when the NE'r started
up. Turned back up the beach. At 1200 430
line the left long and bridge pole go off. I
knew that run, YFT's boy's. One about 30 and
one 35-40. Bout a half later four come down,
the mahi's attacked us and we slung 3 in the
box, one was a nice gaffer. No more love for
us today. |

Lit out at 4:55 this AM, moon just about full
gentle NW breeze about 15 knots, yuck. I hate
fishing out of here on a NW'er. The swell made
for a longer run than I like. Threw ‘em over at
8:00 am. The water temperature is 69.4. The
water is blended dirty, again yuck. About 30
minutes in the right short comes down and the
Tiagra is growling steady and deep. More pull
than a black fin, probably a false albacore.
Nope, to my dismay our first yellowfin tuna of
the year, yippee. Not a bruiser, but about a
solid 30lb'er, the 3rd caught out of MHC this
year so far that I know of. We drill the area
for a spell, no bait, guess it was a free range
tuna. Off, down the beach we go in 4-6' NW 1.5
knots current. Finally after 2 1/2 hrs the
planer comes tight, man on the reel just stops
cranking, I see the rod tip bounce and go limp,
he's gone. Just then the bridge pole goes off.
Well you missed him, I got his butt. He got a
chilly willy right next to the tuna. Got down to
the 390 line after a bit and called down to
clear the mess and get out the jigging rods. Got
up wind, drop em down about 150' and start at
it. The first guy made about 4 pumps and it was
on, second man drops getting jiggy with it and
he is on. Man these guys were having a ball.
Caught about 12 AJ's in one drift and said let
me know when you have had enough and want to go
back on the troll. WE"RE DONE let's go back to
the troll. Worked down the beach to the 340 line
when the water cooled off and made the turn back
up the beach picking up another hoo on the way.
It's 1230 the wind switches to the N and falls
out. This one was way cool, planer trips, crank
crank, nothing there. I see the planer at the
surface I look back to the bait and a 40lb hoo
airs out and crashes the planer bait. SHANK HIM
AND BAG HIM. Put em back out and the rt short
comes down and is screaming. Out of the corner
of my eye I see a huge bust and a splash, the
fish aired out and I missed it. Could it be the
man in the Blue suit? It sounded and the man on
the rod couldn't gain on it, taking drag. Lets
go get it. Well dog gone it it's only a 60lb hoo.
Getting close to the end of the day, managed to
scrape one more hoo and a gaffer dolphin to
finish out a meat slam. Was a pretty quite ride
home, the crew slept to the inlet. Don't know
why. GOD I LOVE THIS JOB |

We got another break in the weather so
we headed out to the stream looking
wahoo's with a couple of great guys from
Goldsboro, NC. t was a little tricky
getting out of the inlet as the fog was
as thick as pea soup. Started where we
left off last week and after 30 minutes
of fishing the planer rod goes off with
a nice 45 lb wahoo. Things slowed a bit
so we headed a little farther south and
the planer rod goes off again and then
the long right starts screaming. Double
header wahoo's for the box and things
are looking up. Pushed even farther down
the break south and find the best bait
of the day. Just and we start to turn to
head back through the bait the bridge
pole gets smacked and line is leaving in
a hurry. Finally get him to the boat and
a slob 65 lb wahoo hits the deck. Great
ending to a wonderful day |

Have not posted a fishing report in a while
because we have been mostly commercial fishing
for bluefin tuna fishing the last month and a
half. It seems the bluefin did not want to come
to Morehead City this year as there were only a
few fish caught and none in the last several
weeks. With that being said we are now ready to
get back out charter fishing in the Gulf Stream
and there are still plenty of big wahoo and
blackfin tuna out there. Give us a call if you
are tired of sitting on the couch and are ready
to go catch them. Also, do not forget to go
ahead and save your charter dates for the rest
of this year and if you book your date by Feb
28th we will waive any fuel surcharge that may
come in the future with rising gas prices.
Give us a call and let's go fishing!!! |

We had a make up trip today and headed 50 miles
out of the inlet in search of some big Wahoo's.
We ended up with 3 Wahoo's that weighed 46 lbs,
36 lbs, and 35 lbs. Also had 4 Black Fin Tuna
and a 20 lb King Mackerel. Had a Sailfish come
up behind the left teaser on the Dink bait and
then knock down the left short rigger, both long
riggers and the bridge pole but could not get
the hook in her. Was a great day with plenty of
meat for the guys to take home for the dinner
table. |

Rick and Jason had another make up trip today
for some Wahoo and Black Fin Tuna chasing. The
bite seamed to slow down just a bit with the

in great numbers for this time of year so give

go. We are also now booking charters for 2011 so
give us a call to save your date especially for
